With your energy, enthusiasm and ability to inspire young people you will be responsible for making Scouting happen. Working with a small leadership team you will plan and deliver an exciting balanced programme for one of our three age ranges with outdoor opportunities, environmental projects and a strong international element.

Opportunities for parents and supporters: Take the first step into the future
Scouting simply would not exist without the skills and enthusiasm of its adult helpers. Whether you can spare two hours a week, a day a month, or an evening a term, we need volunteers to help out. Could you help with admin, be a committee member, a skills instructor, a fundraiser or a person who helps with the maintenance of our premises and equipment? These are just some of the many roles available for people who share our aim of making life better for young people. You don’t need to know anything about Scouting – we’ll provide full training, induction and ongoing support. What matters is that you are committed, have a sense of humour and a huge amount of common sense. 

What do volunteers do?

The everyday adventure of our young members is possible thanks to our adult volunteers, who support Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a Group, to being a charity Trustee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship.

The Scouting award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Their approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.
